Russian Influenza Vaccine Delivered To Venezuela

1 January 2020
Caracas received 1,500,000 doses of the Russian flu vaccine. The delivery was negotiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin with Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro during his visit to the Kremlin in September 2019.

The Russian President then announced that Russia would soon be ready to supply one and a half million doses of influenza vaccine, and later to increase supplies to five million doses on a regular basis. The vaccine was developed at the FSUE SPbSRIVS FMBA. The final manufacturing process was performed at the second production site of SPbSRIVS, the joint Russian-Nicaraguan enterprise Instituto MECHNIKOV in Nicaragua.
