As part of the official visit to Venezuela by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia in charge of Defense industry of Russia Dmitry Rogozin, Director of the SPbSRIVS FMBA Viktor Trukhin and Venezuelan Minister of Health Luisana Melo signed an agreement of intent. The document provides for an assessment of possible cooperation in the field of training and vaccine production technology transfer, as well as nuclear medicine for civilian purposes. The document was tentatively approved at a meeting of the 12th Russian-Venezuelan High-Level Intergovernmental Commission. “For the first time, we have discussed possible cooperation in the health sector too.

Russia has made great progress in providing medical services to population, which could be an example for Venezuela to follow,” said Carlos Faría, Vice President for Economic Affairs, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Venezuela. The SPbSRIVS FMBA plans to train personnel and share experience in vaccine production with the Venezuelan company ESPROMED BIO, a national vaccine manufacturer. Also, the parties agreed to collaborate on marketing authorization and deliveries of pharmaceutical products manufactured by the enterprises to promising markets. Thus, in the near future SPbSRIVS FMBA will supply 150 thousand doses of seasonal influenza vaccine to Venezuela for clinical trials and approval procedures.
