The vaccine against COVID-19 Convacell® will be also effective against the new variant of coronavirus, Kraken, as the press service of the Federal Medical Biological Agency announced.
The Convacell® vaccine will be effective against the new strain because the mutations of the coronavirus affect only the surface S protein. Note that the active ingredient of the new generation vaccine, Convacell®, the recombinant N protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (nucleocapsid protein) is less susceptible to mutational changes than others.
